While there are numerous external fellowship opportunities open to graduate students who wish to become Research Residents at the Center in Paris (Fulbright, Chateaubriand, SSRC, to name just a few), below is a non-comprehensive list of internal funding opportunities open only to students at the University of Chicago.
Lurcy Fellowship
Amount of Award: $25,000 for the academic year
Number of Awards: One per year
Eligibility: Must be a citizen or resident of the United States to apply
Deadline: Late September, for fellowship tenure the following academic year
Sciences Po Exchange Fellowship
Amount of Award: Euro equivalent of $12,500 for 2 or 3 academic quarters plus $2,000 travel allowance
Number of Awards: One per year
Eligibility: Open to PhD candidates with a research project in an academic discipline represented at the Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po)
Deadline: Late April, for fellowship tenure the following academic year
EHESS Exchange Fellowship
Amount of Award: Euro equivalent of $12,000 for up to six months, roundtrip travel costs are reimbursed by the Social Sciences Division Dean of Students office
Number of Awards: One per year
Eligibility: Open to PhD candidates in the Division of the Social Sciences whose dissertation projects require study and research in Paris and who would benefit substantially from the resources of the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales
Deadline: Late April, for fellowship tenure during the following academic year
François Furet Travel Grant
Amount of Award: $2,500
Number of Awards: Eight per year
Eligibility: Students in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Professional Schools, or the College who wish to conduct research or pursue intensive language study in France
Deadline: Late April, for travel to France during the following academic year
