My dissertation focuses on recent French and Canadian poets, from 1970 to 2010 – and how they explored new understandings of the body, informed by deconstruction and the rise of biotechnologies. During my residency at the Center in Paris, I enjoy unique proximity to some of their archives – rare books, recordings of readings, and out of print journals – but also a personal workspace to interview some of them. On top of dissertation work, I will be co-organizing an international conference at the Center, in June 2024. It will focus on the work of Liliane Giraudon, who is part of my corpus but most importantly an acclaimed contemporary French poet. This residency at the Center brings comfort and efficiency to my research and to the organization of this conference.
