This project aims to develop a comparative and transnational framework in which to understand the print practices that have emerged in diverse geopolitical contexts, particularly in the Global South, in the decades around and following the independence of colonized nations. An examination of the material forces, institutions, networks and practices that have shaped the production, circulation and consumption of print in diverse colonial and postcolonial contexts, requires expertise in multiple languages, regions, historical periods, and media. A multidisciplinary team is necessary to carry out this work. Our aim is to expand and deepen an existing international group of scholars in order to share expertise, to develop methodologies, and to pursue pressing questions regarding the interactions of print within diverse situations.
