Accommodations
Chicago faculty will reside either in a studio apartment or a suite in The Park and Suites Grande Bibliothèque Hotel, both near Chicago’s Center in Paris in the 13th arrondissement.
Since the University of Paris VII (Denis Diderot) opened its doors in 2007 across the street from the Center, a host of restaurants and shops have sprung up within easy walking distance of both housing options. There is also an excellent bakery a block from the Center on Quai Panhard et Levassor. Monoprix (grocery and department store) also recently opened a store on the Avenue de France, right next to the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand metro stop, which is located about 200 meters up rue Thomas Mann from the apartment. From this station, one can gain quick access to many parts of the city by taking either the purple metro line #14 or the RER line C. The neighborhood is also well served by a variety of city bus lines.
Studio Apartment
The University of Chicago sublets a furnished one-bedroom apartment including a washing machine, internet and cable TV for University of Chicago faculty members on teaching assignments at the Center in Paris. The unit is about 50 sqm, located in an apartment complex adjacent to the Center.
