Center in Paris Exterior

The University of Chicago’s Center in Paris, a modern 7200 square foot facility with multimedia classrooms, conference space, a language laboratory, research offices, and a library, is located at 6, rue Thomas Mann, in the 13th arrondissement. A view of the exterior of the Center, as seen from rue Thomas Mann. In a style that evokes the Chicago quadrangles, private gardens connect the three separate wings of the Center in Paris.

 

Center in Paris Interior

A bright reception area welcomes students and researchers. The University of Chicago is grateful for the generous gifts of alumni and friends who helped build this Center. The researchers’ spiral staircase connects the reception area to offices above.
 

Classrooms

Students hard at work in the seminar room. Wireless Internet throughout the building allows students to take notes on their laptop computers. Students hone their French skills in the modern language laboratory.

A computer lab equipped with iMacs for students to use during their stay in Paris.

An on-site library and conference room for student and faculty use.
 

Dorm Room

Undergraduate students reside in one of the residence halls at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris, an international community of student dormitories, and can take advantage of the shared facilities and activity centers housed in the pictured Maison Internationale. Shared kitchens in the residence halls allow students to refine their culinary skills while abroad. Students reside in furnished singles, equipped with mini-fridges and DSL Internet access. Students have their own lavatory area in each room.
 

Around Chicago’s Center in Paris

A boulangerie near the Center offers sandwiches and other delectable treats. The Center is located alongside the waterways of the Seine, which winds through the heart of Paris. Through independent travels and as a part of course-related excursions, students explore Paris and her many cultural wonders.
