Outreach
Arnaud Coulombel became the first Outreach Coordinator at the Center in Paris on July 1. This new position marks the Center’s growth toward greater public outreach and wider range in Europe and beyond.
Dr Coulombel will be the primary contact for visiting faculty, for French academic institutions, for American programs in Paris, and for Chicago’s Alumni Association and Development Office. He also teaches in the Civilizations and Humanities sequences at the Center. Dr Coulombel received his PhD in French literature from the University of Chicago, a DEA in French literature and civilization from Université de Paris X Nanterre, and a Diplôme from l'Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Commerciales d'Angers. His scholarly interests include Renaissance literature and history of ideas, history of national consciousness in France, and the concepts of barbarian and barbarity in literature.
“We are delighted to welcome this outstanding educator and colleague as a member of our staff in Paris,” said Martha Merritt, Associate Dean for International Education at the University of Chicago. “He has already visited the Booth School in London and the home campus in Hyde Park to plan for the fifth anniversary of the Center’s inauguration. We look forward to a very exciting year with Arnaud as part of our team.”
